Barrels

Thoroughbred Rifles use only the finest custom barrels available today. Our primary supplier is Bartlein Barrels of Jackson Wisconsin. We also utilize Kreiger Barrels of Richfield Wisconsin, Brux Barrels of Lodi, Wisconsin and Lilja Barrels of Plains Montana.

Thoroughbred Rifle Barrels

We specify stainless barrels from all these vendors and inventory in 22 caliber, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, 30 caliber, 338 caliber, 375 caliber, 416 caliber and 458 caliber. We specify our barrels in 3 different contours – #4, #5 and #6 depending upon caliber and customer preference. We will provide fluted barrels upon the client’s request. We also offer the Thoroughbred Muzzle Brake should the client desire one.

In general we don’t use a muzzle brake as much for felt recoil reduction as we do for shot follow through. With shots further than a couple of hundred yards, the brake allows the shooter to stay in the scope more effectively and observe the shot placement. Our brakes feature 11 degree forward ports for maximum noise reduction and maximum efficiency. They are threaded to the barrel and precision aligned for maximum accuracy and are therefore removable.
